Appleton Pass-Cat Lake Traverse, Olympic National Park, Sep 8, 2008 - Sep 12, 2008 page 63 / 71
We took the short side trail to the top of Bogachiel Peak. We found ten other hikers there! Luckily, there were still a few places to sit down for a moment and enjoy some lunch.
Back on the High Divide trail, just beyond Bogachiel Peak we reached the Deer Lake junction. We turned north, away from the high country, but not away from the good views. The western slope which this trail followed for the next few miles was filled with flowers. Not just lupine, either. Paintbrush and daisies were also present in large numbers.
