The trees had given way to some small meadows. We stopped briefly for a snack, and to enjoy the lupine in bloom. As we continued hiking, we had occasional glimpses across the valley to Sol Duc Park, where we had camped a year ago. Further climbing revealed Mt. Olympus beyond the High Divide ridge.
