During our evening return visit to the meadows a light breeze came up, not uncommon in the hills at sunset. I had separated from Dad to wander a bit further than he desired, but had returned to a vantage point where I could see our campsite. I glanced down just in time to see my bivouac bag, sleeping pad, and sleeping bag blow away from the camp during a strong gust of wind. Luckily, the wind was blowing things away from the lake! There were plenty of trees nearby, so I was not terribly worried, though I wasted no time getting back down the hill to recover my belongings. When I returned, I found Dad had beat me to the scene, securing our gear with some heavy rocks. Oddly, the wind remained strong for several hours into the evening. The breeze did a good job of keeping the mosquitoes away, but we eventually succumbed to the chill it brought and crawled into our bags for the night.
I awoke in the morning to hear a rustling nearby. I found two deer, one doe and one fawn. I was able to quickly get a few photos of them before they wandered down the trail toward the pass.
