I stopped for a break in a meadow near 5200 feet. The surrounding ridges were rocky and speckled with evergreens. Smaller plants showed their autumn colors. Red, orange, brown and yellow dotted the landscape. And there was one small blue dot. That was a fellow backpacker on the ridge a few hundred feet above. He must have come from Cedar Lake. Climbing another three hundred feet, I came to a beautiful, snow-fed lake! I explored the area and found sites for two or three tents. This would make an excellent base camp for a future trip!
