I last visited the Lena Lakes area with Tom and his scout troop in 2003. Having visited while the lake was still partially snow covered, I recalled just how stunning this location can be in the early season. Tom, Kevin and I headed to Upper Lena Lake for similar views, and to climb Mt. Bretherton.

We arrived at the Lena Lake trailhead and hit the trail at about 10:30 AM. The hike through the forest along this section of trail was cool and pleasant. We reached Lower Lena Lake in an hour. We stopped for a bite to eat and to take in the views of this large lake.
