Bailey Range Traverse '14, Olympic National Park, Aug 14, 2014 - Aug 21, 2014 page 111 / 117
I continued about 2.5 miles along the ridge, through easy rock and heather slopes, following game trails as I neared the trees. Then I made a turn south, descending perhaps a mile and a half through the trees and huckleberry bushes, where I regained the upper Elwha trail.
Though I'd only covered four or five miles, I was done for the day. The steep descent through the trees was enough. I stayed at Happy Hollow Shelter for the night, having the place all to myself!
