After breakfast and packing, I continued along the path. Almost immediately, I was faced with another gully. This time I descended some 75 feet over open rock, near a line of slide alder. Then I traversed 20 feet across a creek.
The creek was divided into two segments; the main portion as well as a narrow one. The narrow section followed a slim groove in the rock, rapidly moving down the six-inch wide chute, then striking a rock. It was at this point where the water shot out of the chute and sprayed below. I would cross just above that point. The rock was solid, and relatively easy to grasp, despite a few wet handholds. The larger section of the creek was easily negotiated.
