We were due out of the woods in one more day, and we were over twenty miles from Whiskey Bend. We wanted to hike as fast as we could this day to shorten our last day out. We made it to Camp Wilder by early evening.

We found a meager campsite near the old shelter at Camp Wilder, then quickly made dinner. Tom ate most of his dinner from inside the tent, in order to escape the incessant skeeters. I boiled plenty of water for the following day's hike, diving into the tent as soon as I was done so that I would not be eaten alive!
