Bailey Range Traverse,  Olympic National Park,  Jul 26, 2007 - Aug 1, 2007     page 68 / 97

No sooner had we stopped and Tom spotted a lone goat standing in an area we had just passed. Oddly, we had not seen him until now. Tom removed his boots to cool his feet. We watched the goat. A few minutes later he walked right over to us. He looked at us for the longest time as we took several photos of him. It was almost as if he knew he was to pose for us! Tom was a bit concerned that the goat might want to chew on one of his shoes, but he never came that close to us. Once he realized that we were not going to feed him, or provide anything salty for him to lick, he sat down nearby, digging into the earth for something. It was a fun experience, the visit from the lone goat.
