Bailey Range Traverse,  Olympic National Park,  Jul 26, 2007 - Aug 1, 2007     page 26 / 97

I woke early to another bright blue sky. I heard some noise outside the tent. I poked my head out to see a band of a dozen goats wandering through camp. They had not disturbed any of our belongings, but were simply passing through. Most of them headed up the trail we had hiked the evening before, but one stayed behind, curious. He disappeared between the trees, and over the ridge a few minutes later. I followed him to see where he had gone. Apparently, he had located the rock I had urinated upon the evening before. He, and a couple other goats, furiously licked the rock to obtain the salts from my waste.
