We spent an hour or so at the lake then returned to our camp. We met a ranger along the way and had a nice conversation with him. Among the topics of discussion was the large windfall along the trail in Honeymoon Meadows. He told us there was a much simpler route. Simply use the snow bridge across the creek, then follow the trail past the campsites back to the site of the missing foot log. That certainly sounded like an easier route! The family discussed the possibility of hiking down the valley a day early. We decided to hang around camp, where we had some shade, then work our way down the hill later in the afternoon, when it was a bit cooler.
