Mt Adams '12, Mt Adams Wilderness, Aug 16, 2012 - Aug 17, 2012 page 29 / 48
Piker's Peak lies at 11,600 feet. It is a broad shoulder sometimes mistaken from below as the Mt Adams summit. Just west of the smooth-topped peak, we found a good rock windbreak for a well-deserved break.
The wind at this location was howling. I would guess it was 30-40 mph. The temperature was not terribly low, but the wind chill suggested we add another layer of clothing, which we all did.
