We arrived at the trailhead about 2:00PM, roughly 24 hours after having started. While we didn't accomplish the goal we had set out to achieve, we made the best of it. Often there are options to be made in these outdoor adventures. Options about which route to take, about where to pitch a tent, or even about which entree to have for dinner (beef or chicken). By keeping the options open, a safe, successful outcome is most likely. We chose the prudent option, even though our goal had not been accomplished. In that essence, our trip was a success.
We had fun despite turning back.
