Tumac Mtn / Twin Sisters Lks,  William O Douglas Wilderness,  Aug 22, 1999 - Aug 23, 1999     page 2 / 20

The trail proceeds approximately 2.5 miles with 900' of elevation gain to the first of the Twin Sisters Lakes. This lake happens to be the smaller of the two. The trail is generally dry with only occasional snow patches crossed. The forest walk is primarily through second growth fir, cedar and pine. A few views of Nelson ridge and Mt. Aix to the east are available. A couple of small creeks are crossed as the lake is approached. As the lake comes into view, one notes that the thin forest is gradually encroaching upon the meadows surrounding the lake. Several campsites are present for both small and large parties.
