As I sat there, I heard an unusual rustling in the brush not too far behind me. I stood up, turned around and found a mountain goat voraciously foraging at the base of some alpine hemlock. He ate grass as well as some roots. He cautiously eyed me a few times, while I took several photos. Despite my maneuvering for photographs, he continued eating. After a few minutes, his curiosity won out and he approached me.
