Much of the trail was in open forest. The undergrowth there was totally snow covered. A map and a compass and the ability to use them are required to find your way. The occasional trail marker is very helpful, but can be tricky to locate at times. Can you find the orange trail marker nailed to the side of the tree in the photo below?
