Libby and I drove up to the Sunrise area of Mt. Rainier last week to climb Skyscraper Mountain. This is an area I hadn't visited since the late 1960s when my father and I camped in Berkeley Park with some family friends.

We began hiking around 11:30 AM. The trail begins next to the Sunrise lodge. We headed north onto the Sourdough mountain trail, then followed it westward to Frozen Lake. From there we joined the Wonderland trail continuing to the west. The trail drops down a few hundred feet here and provides beautiful views north, into Berkeley Park. (See map)
