Wednesday we drove north out of Kanab to visit Bryce Canyon. The drive was a bit less than 2 hours through small towns tucked in little valleys initially, then through wide, open farmland later. The park road runs north-south along the top of a ridge which crests at just under 10,000 feet above sea level. The air is clean, cool and refreshing. The park's noted landscape lies on the east side of the ridge. The unusual erosion of softer minerals has left the harder materials for us to view. These are called "hoodoos."
