In July, we took time out for a quick backpacking trip into Sheep Lake, on the Pacific Crest Trail, just north of Chinook Pass. I took Tom and Chris there with their Grampa a few years ago, but this time we all went up.
The hike begins from Chinook Pass along the Crest Trail. It meanders on the flat, just above the highway for a mile or so before heading up into the trees. The hike to the lake is just 2 miles and only 400 feet of elevation gain.
