Since Bruce moved back to the northwest, he has been anxious to do some backpacking. Of course, Libby and I are always up for that, so we chose a simple, early-season trek to Goat Lake, in the Glacier View Wilderness Area, just west of Mt Rainier.

The drive to the trailhead was straighforward, as was most of the trail to Lake Christine. However, there were a few small, yet steep, snow slopes to cross before reaching Lake Christine.
