With a heavy, late snowfall in the northwest, hiking season began later this year. With a day off earlier this week, we headed up to Sunrise, in the Mt Rainier National Park, for a visit to Fremont Lookout.

The winding road to Sunrise can be a slow one, but the views are never disappointing, even from the parking lot. The views improve rapidly as one climbs up the hill, though.
