Appleton Pass-Cat Lake Traverse,  Olympic National Park,  Sep 8, 2008 - Sep 12, 2008     page 43 / 71

The last mile of the trail opens to airy views across the Hoh valley. It's important to watch your step in some places to prevent grave consequences! I reached the end of the trail sometime after 10:00AM. The 250-foot climb up the goat trail to the base of Cat Peak was certainly easier with just a fanny pack, rather than the full backpack!

I had a quick drink of water while I gazed at the Bailey Range. Then I began my climb up the hill. I hadn't been walking but ten minutes when I met four goat going the other way. They watched me carefully as I snapped a few photos of them.
