After eight or nine gullies, the trail crosses an easy talus field, then enters a grassy meadow. At this point, I left the path, heading instead for the open spot on the ridge above. The 800-foot climb up rock and heather meadows, was easy. Once reaching the ridge, I followed game trails another 200 feet to a broad ridge.
